Considering the cost of a movie ticket is less than most Gold Class tickets, St. George Open Air Cinema is one of Sydney’s best places to organise a glamorous date night or girls night at an affordable cost. From early evening, patrons gather with friends at the harbour’s edge to make the most of the stunning outlook and vibrant atmosphere. With Matt Moran’s Chiswick restaurant on site and a harbourside bar with panoramic views, the event delivers an extensive range of high-quality meals, snacks, champagnes, wines, beers, ciders and spring waters to meet all tastes. When night falls, an unrivalled cinematic experience unfolds a giant screen is hydraulically raised from Sydney Harbour to stand three storeys high before a 2,000 seat grandstand, complete with surround sound and an incredible backdrop. Unlike St. George’s harbourfront experience, the Bondi Open Air cinema is a BYO accomodating space (although alcohol is restricted) that most pack picnic baskets, blankets and fold-out seating for. For those looking to make their experience as fuss-free as possible, pizza, pasta and other homestyle meals are available for purcahse. Red Rock Deli popcorn is available from a quaint old-style popcorn machine and complimentary coffee sachets and wine testing are available at the venue from ‘doors open’ at 6.15pm until the film begins at sundown (generally 8.30pm). Whilst this particular cinema cannot boast the same heir of luxury and decadence of the St. George cinema, Bondi’s skyline during sunset is never one to dissapoint. For the modest price-point of $20, the American Express event is a great destination for friends catching up, families wanting to spend time together or for couples wanting to inject some olf-fashioned cosy romance into their relationship.
