    Frolicking through Helsinki, Finland

Whilst Helsinki can proudly boast a fusion atmosphere of new and edgy lifestyles and design with a traditional flair; Helsinki leaves a lot to be desired in the ‘consistent summer weather’ department. In the case that you’re after sun-laden bikini photos amongst other tanned holiday-goers, perhaps Helsinki shouldn’t be at the top of the ‘to travel‘ list. For all that Helsinki is not (primarily not being a sunny nation), Helsinki offers many unconventional attractions. An attraction with plenty of charm is the distinct means of popular public transport when travelling between Estonia to Finland (arguably was a worthwhile adventure in itself).  Cruising between the two nations allowed me to experience some of the most awe-inspiring…

    Tales of Travels through Tallinn

Tallinn was a travel destination that was booked out of necessity and with great apprehension. Unlike my previous European adventures, Estonia was not a place that I lusted over, nor dreamed or planned on visiting. My adventures through Tallinn came to fruition as the terminal of my stay restricted my travel to the Baltic states. This apprehension turned to dismay as I, to no avail, furiously searched for positive opinions and awe-inspiring images of Estonia online. Fortunately for me, I have a tendency of appreciating destinations that I have the lowest expectations for most. Now I have seen my share of old towns; Krakow, Warsaw, Budapest and many more – never…

    Museum of Broken Relationships, Zagreb

Somehow in our endeavour to plan the best and timely European adventure, my best friend and I mistakenly attributed too many days of our trip to Zagreb, Croatia. Whilst Zagreb’s scenery and culture differs greatly from others around Croatia, my best friend and I respectfully felt like one day was appropriate to cover the whole city centre – rookie error, we know. Somewhat underwhelmed by the range of activities available, at the recommendation of our bus conductor, we decided to pop into ‘The Museum of Broken Relationships’. Located on a side street just off the central shopping strip, the quaint minimalist museum turned out to be the saving grace of…

    Rendezvous with Riga

My rendezvous with Riga began much alike any other melancholy date. I groaned in despair as my bus circled Riga’s uninviting skyline amidst a desperate searching for parking spaces amongst cramped streets. Judging from my first glance, I was ready to  call the date a day. My eyes didn’t sparkle at architecture of the buildings,  the charm of the surrounding city didn’t prompt a spark of excitement in my stomach and above all else, the exterior walls of the city didn’t leave me with a desire to tell the social media world exactly where I was.  Much alike any dating myth, the inconceivable happened – I persevered past my initial…

    My 48 Hours in Amsterdam

Renowned for its elaborate canal system, heritage houses, red light district and notorious ‘coffee houses‘, Amsterdam is well-known to travellers as an awe inspiring picturesque destination. To me, this unique charm made Amsterdam the most desirable intermediate (48 hour) stop-over destination between flights. Curious to see whether the canal city resonated with me as it did a decade ago as a child, I meticulously organised my intinerary for the short visit. Unfortunately Mother Nature had other plans as dreary weather and light showers continued within the 48 hour period, derailing my plan of floating across flower laden bridges in a sundress. Fortunately most Amsterdam canal tours are enclosed, their coffee…

Hacks to Save Money Whilst Travelling Europe

Find a Geographical Focus It is easy, if not natural, to get wrapped up in the excitement of endless possibilities when planning your voyage throughout Europe. When considering what historic streets and enchanted cities you want to roam, many look solely at the well-loved destinations such as Paris, London (although no longer in the European Union), Milan, Rome. Whilst some do jet-set from corner to corner of Europe to experience major cities, it is imperative to be methodical and geographically focused when planning your route. My best friend and I ran into this issue whilst booking our voyage. We had both visited different countries respectively and neither of us were willing to overlook…
